Worlds Without End series: A Blue Moon Rose

This painting was made on a 12-inch round canvas using Payne’s gray, sky blue, dark pthalo blue, a deep maroon I created with dioxazine purple and red, as well as silver and pearl white. Of all the paintings in this series, A Blue Moon Rose makes me imagine our planetary home in the days of its primordial being when Life began. I see the folds of newly formed land cooling from the flowing lava. The silver and pearl white seem to hover over the lava floes creating a mist of gasses that are gathering into the oxygen-rich envelope of sky blue in the upper right of the painting.
